Privacy Policy
Last updated: 4 November 2026
CV Yangu is a free service run by Creative Hauz that helps people create CVs and cover letters. This policy explains what information we handle, why, who we share it with, and the choices you have. We wrote it in plain language. If anything is unclear, email linda@creativehauz.space.
The short version
- We use your information only to write your CV and cover letters and to run the service.
- We never sell your information and we do not show adverts.
- Your CVs are saved on your own phone. They are only saved on our servers if you sign in.
- Voice notes and uploaded CV files are processed once and not stored by us.
- You can delete your data at any time from the Account page, or by emailing us.
What we collect and why
| Information | Why we use it | Where it is kept |
|---|---|---|
| What you type or say in the chat, and the job adverts you paste | To ask you questions and write your CV and cover letters | On your phone. On our database too if you sign in. |
| CV details: name, contact details, work and education history, skills, references, and (Local style only) date of birth, ID number, gender, marital status and photo | To build and download your CV | On your phone. On our database too if you sign in. |
| Voice notes | To turn your speech into text | Sent to our speech-to-text provider and not stored by us. |
| CV files you upload (PDF) | To read your existing CV so we can improve it | Sent to our AI provider and not stored by us. Only the text we extract is kept, as above. |
| Your email address and, if you use Google, your name | To sign you in and keep your CVs safe across devices | Our sign-in provider (Supabase). |
| A usage record for each AI request: type of request, time, estimated cost, and either your account ID or a scrambled (hashed) version of your IP address | To enforce fair daily limits and keep the service free within its monthly budget | Our database. We never store your raw IP address in it. |
| Standard technical logs (such as IP address and browser type) | To keep the website secure and working | Our hosting provider (Vercel), kept for a short time. |
Only give personal details such as your ID number or date of birth if you want them on your CV. They are optional and only appear on the Local style.
Who we share it with
We share information only with the companies that help us run CV Yangu, and only what each one needs:
- Anthropic (Claude AI): reads your conversation, uploaded CV and job adverts to write your documents.
- OpenRouter, and the speech model it routes to (currently Google Gemini): turns voice notes into text.
- Supabase: sign-in and storage of saved CVs for signed-in users.
- Vercel: hosts the website.
- Google: only if you choose "Continue with Google", to confirm who you are.
These providers process information under their own terms and privacy policies. We do not allow anyone to use your information for advertising. We will only share information with others if the law requires it.
Information stored outside Zimbabwe
Our providers run their services in other countries, including the United States and the European Union. By using CV Yangu, your information is transferred to and processed in those countries. We choose established providers with strong security practices.
How long we keep it
- CVs and letters on your phone stay until you delete them or clear your browser data.
- CVs and letters in your account stay until you delete them or your account.
- Usage records are kept only as long as needed to run limits and budgets, and are deleted on request.
- Voice notes and uploaded files are not stored by us.
Your choices and rights
- You can use CV Yangu without an account.
- You can view, edit and delete your CVs and letters at any time.
- The Account page has a "Delete all my data" button that removes your CVs and letters from this phone and your account.
- To delete your account itself, get a copy of your data, or correct something, email linda@creativehauz.space. We aim to reply within 14 days.
- If you are in Zimbabwe, you also have rights under the Cyber and Data Protection Act, and you may complain to the Postal and Telecommunications Regulatory Authority of Zimbabwe (POTRAZ).
Security
All connections to CV Yangu are encrypted (HTTPS). Saved CVs in your account can only be read when you are signed in as you. No system is perfectly secure, so please use a device and email account that only you can open.
Children
CV Yangu is meant for job seekers aged 16 and over. If you are younger, please use it with a parent, guardian or teacher.
Changes to this policy
If we change how we use your information, we will update this page and the date at the top.
